Instructional Technology Coordinator

Patty Ferrell graduated from West Liberty
State College with a bachelors degree in special education
and physical education. Immediately upon graduation, she
was employed by Edison Local Schools in Bergholz, Ohio,
as a teacher in a cross-categorical unit of special needs
students with discrepancies of learning disabled (LD), developmentally
handicapped (DH), and severe behavior handicapped (SBH). She
worked there nine years and during that time, completed a
masters degree in education from Mary Grove College.
In fall 2002, Patty joined the staff
at the Jefferson County Educational Service Center (JCESC)
as an intervention specialist to help special needs students
enrolled in the Virtual Learning Academy. She assists points-of-contact,
teachers, and students in accommodating, modifying, and adapting
course work to meet students Individualized Education
Plans (IEPs). As an instructional technology coordinator,
she trains teachers and points-of-contacts to use the online
system.
