Why do I get booted back to the login page when I hit save?
We believe it has to do with the Content Advisor
being enabled.
To fix this.....
1. Click on Tools, Internet Options
2. click on the Content tab
3. Disable the content advisor.
I cannot access the read aloud capability in Adobe Reader 8.1 – Instructions for getting the new Adobe to read VLA content:
To have the unit read out loud, you should have the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 8.1 ( you may download it at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html ):
1. After installing, open the program click on edit. In the drop down menu click preferences. In the window that opens, click on "internet" and make sure "display PDF in browser" is not checked
2. Click OK - you may have to re-start your computer.
3. Login to the VLA and click on your unit
4. Click on "PDF file" in the unit - the unit will open in a new window with a menu along the top (File, Edit, View, Etc)
5. Click on View. In the drop down menu click on Read Out Loud/Activate Read Out Loud (keyboard shortcut shift+ctrl+y)
6. Click on paragraph you would like to have read - Voice will read highlighted text
- To read entire page, instead of clicking on a paragraph, Click on View. In the drop down menu click on Read Out Loud/Read This page only (keyboard shortcut shift+ctrl+v)
7. To stop the reader, keyboard shortcut ctrl+shift+e
*Note: The voice that reads is dependent on your version of windows. XP is the male voice and Vista will give you the female voice.
Once I have logged in, I select a course and then choose the unit to start to work on. The program boots me back out to the login page. -We believe this to be a cookie setting error. I have a unit to redo but cannot type in the answers – If you are a student, to redo a question, the color of the question must be gray, if it is red you need to send this unit back to your teacher to be graded again. Teacher, you need to mark “redo” for each question you want the student to redo – DO NOT MARK INCORRECT - also, you need to mark “this unit must be redone” at the bottom of the page.
I cannot access the read aloud capability – Make sure you have Adobe Acrobat 6.0 installed on your computer. When you access a unit, you need to click on the PDF link at the top left or bottom left hand side of the page. The content will now open in Adobe format. To access the reader, hold down “Ctrl” “Shift” “V” to begin the reader and “Ctrl” “Shift” “E” to end the reader.
